Do you know about SCORE?
SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) volunteers serve as “Counselors to America’s Small Business.” SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
SCORE volunteers are real-world professionals with time-tested knowledge who donate their time to help small businesses succeed. Counselors are experts in such areas as accounting, finance, marketing, management and business plan preparation.
SCORE provides free and confidential business counseling tailored to meet the needs of your small business. They regularly conduct their Minding Your Business Seminar, which covers:
- What and why of your business plan
- Organizing your business
- What financial reports you need and how they help you
- Marketing/selling your product or service
- Financing and business loans
- Role of the Small Business Administration
- Managing-permits, fees, licenses, insurance
I have personally met many of the members of the Kansas City Chapter, and they are a great group of people who are doing wonderful work. Whether you have a small business or are thinking of starting one, I highly recommend that you check out your local SCORE chapter.
